Hustle & Flowchart: Mastering Business & Enjoying the Journey

The Hustle & Flowchart Podcast with Joe Fier is all about how to build a business so it gives you the freedom and fuel for your life. We discuss systems, mindset tweaks, reframes, and strategies for entrepreneurs (and really anyone) to enjoy the process of being in business and having fun. This isn't for the entrepreneur looking to build a billion dollar business, rather someone who is looking to build systems that work for you, so you can make more money than you need just by working part-time. I was a chronic hustle-mode kinda guy and I want to share my experiences and mentors I've met along the way to help you reframe things so you can be the most effective as an entrepreneur. Join in conversations with Joe Fier and various mentors sharing principles and strategies to put this into action for yourself. Please enjoy and share with your friends! Listen Notes

Today we're bringing back one of our favorite episodes we've ever done. Today we're talking to Chris Voss, author of "Never Split The Difference," probably the best book ever written on negotiation.

With the changes we've made in our business recently, we find ourselves in many more negotiation scenarios. Relistening to this episode has been huge for us, going into discussions that could have big money implications.

Ever since recording this episode, we've changed our speech patterns and approached conversations differently. This is one of the most impactful episodes we feel we've done to date in terms of our own communication skills.

We'd love to hear your thoughts about this one over in the community Discord.

For the month of January, we're rereleasing the most impactful episodes of Hustle & Flowchart. These are the ones that completely changed the way we think after we recorded them.

Today, we're bringing back our episode with Mark Joyner.

We recorded this episode in mid-2020, only a few weeks after everyone started being locked down.

We dove deep into where to get your information and how to verify if the information is correct. This has become a more and more important topic as time has gone on because the world has changed so much and, still, people don't know who or what to believe.

We also discussed how rapidly technology is changing and how you really need to be on the cutting edge to make it in the future.

We'd love to hear your thoughts about these decisions over in the community Discord.

Some Topics We Discussed Include:

  • How to go down the rabbit hole on a particular topic while not getting misled by the media
  • Who can you really trust when watching the news?
  • What is ‘The Big Five Phenomena’ and why it’s not necessarily a good thing
  • Epistemological illiteracy and how it relates to your beliefs
  • How the rate of paradigm shifts has constantly increased and what you can do to keep up
  • What do Astroturf and Coco Puffs have in common?

This month, we're rewinding back and sharing some of the most impactful episodes we've ever recorded. These are the episodes that changed the way we see the world and business during and after recording them.

In this episode you’ll hear James lay out a super practical thought exercise that you can do along with us, to determine a life of wealth freedom, for whatever that means to you in the most conservative way possible to keep that money flowing.

James has started 20 companies, 17 of which have failed. You’ll hear how he has gone through some amazing wins and losses, the important lessons he’s learned along the way, and how he has come to realize you really don’t need as much you think, both in terms of physical items and monetarily.

We'd love to hear your thoughts about these decisions over in the community Discord.

This month, we're digging into the archives to pull out the episodes that have had the most profound impact on the two of us.

In this episode, we chat with Nic Peterson, an absolute genius at mental models. He really knows how to help define what's important and what's now and how to know if you should pursue something.

His advice around being successful at things that you don't really enjoy really hit home and was a big piece of our recent change in direction.

Some Topics We Discussed Include:

  • How Nic went from homeless to making $100k with his mastermind
  • Getting out of your slump with projects that don’t excite you
  • Attracting high-end clients by saying the right words
  • From powerlifting to losing weight and the birth of a nutrition company
  • How to set your priorities to determine which one should come first
  • Why not to name the puppy at the shelter - don’t even think about it!
  • The four quadrants of action priority
  • What is base knowledge disconnect and how to avoid it
  • How to reach your goals even faster

This is a "rewind" episode from 2017 with Michael Taggart. This was one of the first times we discussed Bitcoin and blockchain tech. on the show.

We wanted to republish this episode because it's borderline prophetic. Much of what Michael breaks down in this episode actually played out exactly like he said it would.

We discuss DAOs, what will replace Bitcoin, artists using tokens to build communities, influencers creating coins, and much much more... In 2017!

I was worried that this episode may be less relevant today than it was when we recorded it. I was wrong!

This episode re-blew my mind.

Now, here's a little of what you'll learn in the episode:

  • What is Blockchain Technology and how does it work?
  • How is blockchain verifiable by the public and yet anonymous?
  • Major misconceptions about cryptocurrency
  • Bitcoin as a deflationary currency
  • The three types of blockchain-based technologies
  • Blockchain's brilliant approach to cybersecurity
  • The first blockchain-based social media platform
  • How blockchain technology will shape the future of the ride-sharing economy
  • Everything you need to know about ICOs
  • Why digital currencies need a self-regulating organization?
  • Michael’s great advice on getting involved in Cryptocurrency
  • Understanding the difference between coins and tokens
  • The excitement, innovation, tips and strategies around blockchain technology
