Hustle And Flowchart - Tactical Marketing Podcast

Every week we have conversations with the most successful people in our network. We learn their stories and the lessons learned before diving in and getting the real "meat." Every single show has actionable takeaways that listeners can implement in their own life or business. We focus on topics around traffic, brand awareness, wealth growth, podcasting, marketing automation, mindset, lifestyle, and business systematization but have been known to go pretty "off script" from time to time to discuss a wide variety of topics to help people improve their lives. We describe our show as "A Life Improvement Podcasting Masquerading As A Business Podcast."

We’re back with another Therapy Session! Join us on today’s show as we dish about the time where we almost got eaten by a wild bear on a camping trip, some great questions we answered from the “What the Heck?” deck, as well as some fun we had with a new online tool we found. We also chat about the meaning behind the title of this show, how some recent time off has changed our perception about the business and what lies ahead.

Not only do we share our memories of our earlier days (some good and some bad) and how they were pivotal to getting us to where we are today, but you’ll also hear all about our plans for our new podcast space, and our focus on even more creativity and fun than we’ve ever had before! Once you have listened, be sure to tune in to our previous shows with Erin Pheil and Marx Acosta-Rubio to get more insight on how to use your time more wisely, increase your happiness, and change your life for the better.

There’s a lot of stuff going on, and when we do things I want to make sure we are serving the best way possible and doing the best work we can.” - Joe Fier

Getting back, I was thinking how do I keep this feeling going? How do I focus on having more fun, creating more experiences, doing more cool stuff while simultaneously making sure that the business keeps on pushing forward?” - Matt Wolfe

Some Topics We Discussed Include:

  • What’s the funniest place we had ever fallen asleep?
  • Matt’s fresh perspectives after his big road trip
  • Dealing with the cycle of expansion and contraction
  • Revisiting why we started a business in the first place
  • Dealing with guilt when we are having too much fun
  • Would you quit your job right after you bought a house and two days before your wedding? One of us did just that…
  • Hold us accountable to what you’ll hear us say
  • Our next big move for the show - literally!
  • Why FUN is on the horizon and some of the new things you can expect from us

Today’s episode with Jackson Millan is a great look into how he’s able to set up a business so we can be doing more of what’s fun and important. We all have this pull-back effect and let our minds wander when we are away from home. We need to figure out how to be the operators of the business, and one of the things that stood out for us was that we loved Jackon’s process with marketing, sales, delivery, and growth.

Marketing is only one piece of the puzzle of a successful business. We’ve figured out how to systemize marketing, but we still feel like we are stuck in the delivery elements of it. Jackson specializes in wealth creation for business owners and you’ll hear how he creates this for his clients, his F4 framework to get you there, how he prepared to take his year-long trip traveling to places where others couldn’t go, the importance of outsourcing, and how to look at your long term game plan to achieve what you really want. He’s got a lot of great frameworks which will get you thinking, no matter how big or small your business is currently. After you’ve listened, be sure to check out our conversations with David Jenyns, the master of systemizing, and Moe Abbas to help you find the right folks so you can scale your business and focus on your genius.

We all have the ability to create a business that allows us the financial means to support whatever it is that we want.” - Jackson Millan

Some Topics We Discussed Include:

  • How to take your business from relying on you as the expert technician to one where your team handles it the same, if not better
  • Dealing with the death of the ego
  • More discussion about brussel sprouts!
  • The F4 Framework to create your dream life
  • The important questions to ask before you can consider stepping away
  • Allowing things to break to determine the weaknesses in your business
  • Simplifying your systems so that you can outsource your workflow
  • Enjoying the journey and making your business fun
  • Jackson’s set up to travel off the beaten path
  • How to live for today, and plan for tomorrow
  • Creating wealth and working smarter, not harder

We’re back with another amazing show with Molly Mahoney, from The Prepared Performer today! In this episode, Molly is so tactical and we highly recommend you go to HustleAndFlowchart.tv as this is one of the few ones where she shows her screen. You’ll see her dive into her Spaghetti Launch, where she pulled off a crazy successful launch. The beauty is she didn’t even have a ton of people going through there but still got crazy results.

We are in awe of all the live videos Molly puts out and she gives a boatload of tips on how to change up your Facebook newsfeed so that you can engage more with the content that you want to see, how to best use your Facebook memories to increase engagement, her daily STARS tactic. Bob Burg is the author of quite a few books, notably The Go Giver series, which is one of the very early ones we still reference, and it’s such a smooth read as it’s told in a story form. Being open to receiving is probably one of the things most people struggle with, and this came up in our conversation today as there’s this feeling that we want to constantly give value. For anyone who wants to give non-stop, the receiving does tend to make you feel guilty, so you need to be open to receiving.

Bob explains how to not only be open to receiving, but mastering your emotions an having empathy, even if you cannot completely relate to another’s situation, as well as letting go of the need to be right, communicating with tact and setting up a proper frame ahead of time so that the results of what you do will be beneficial and lead others to  react in a positive light. After you’ve listened, go check out our conversations with Nir Eyal and Brian Kurtz for more insight into how to build upon positive habits and promote values that are important to your life and business.

Money is an echo of value. It’s the thunder to value’s lightning which means that the value must be the focus and the money you receive is a natural result of the value you are providing.” - Bob Burg

Some Topics We Discussed Include:

  • How to address the separation of how we communicate online
  • What to do if you feel like you are being taken advantage of in business
  • Being congruent in your giving and staying true to your values
  • Mastering your emotions
  • How to let go of the need to be right all the time while also influencing others
  • A coffee shop story you can learn from to set up your matrix
  • The importance of communicating with tact

Bruce Clay of SEOTraining.com brings the heat on our show today, because the way he described how there’s a different algorithm for different keywords and different keywords you have to treat in different ways on the intent, the way he describes it, really simplifies the SEO game. You don’t have to make up rules and do all this trick stuff. Even when you use tools, all of our “competition” is getting the same data, you just need to be less bad at it than everyone else.

You have an advantage if you have this information, and one of the things that was fascinating is this is the first we have heard about this update in May which you’ll hear about on the show. You’ll learn about NitroPack.io a plug-in, which will get your site speed to run quickly so you don’t lose visitors, and he’s been so entrenched in this world, you can tell he’s clearly the father of SEO. Once you’ve got your SEO wheels spinning, be sure to check out our chats with Gert Mellak and Nikhil Aitharaju & Ryo Chiba to go down the rabbit hole of ranking even more.

“Along comes this thing called a search engine which is entirely software and algorithm and if you win, you make money. It’s almost like a slot machine that you can program yourself.” - Bruce Clay

Some Topics We Discussed Include:

  • What was it like selling SEO services back in 1996
  • What does Google’s algorithm have to do with camping, brain surgery, and Rubik’s cubes?
  • Is the keyword informational or transactional and why you should know
  • How Featured Snippets and Answer Boxes have changed the world of rankings
  • What’s Google up to in May and how to be prepared so you do not lose rankings
  • Javascript secrets to get your site to load faster
  • Geek out with us when we discuss core web vitals, largest contentful paint and cumulative layout shift
